XC90 Rear Parking Sensors and Fixed towbars

MessageAuthor

Hello, does anyone have an XC90 with a fixed towbar? and does it cause problems with the rear parking sensors? ... I have inquired with my service department who "didnt know", I also had a discussion with Witter and Brink who suggested that a fixed bar would give false triggers. So can any owner comment? Thanks for any help :natur008:

If I leave my detachable on after unhitching it doesn't seem to bother them. Cant see why fixed would be any different but then im sure theres someone who has a fixed somewhere on here

I also have detachable Brink tow bar. When it is left in position - sometimes for a couple of weeks or so lately there has been no effect upon the parking sensors. I cannot see that a fixed tow bar should make any difference the tow ball projection behind the bumpers should be the same. Frank

I had an XC90 with fixed towbar for 3 1/2 years & never had a problem with the sensors. It always went to a continuous bleep about 4" before you hit anything. My XC60 is equally good, if anything gives a bit more safety margin.
