V70 whirring noise

Our 2001 V70 2.4 petrol is making a distinct whirring sound noticeable at about 45-60mph - above that it seems to go. The noise appears to be coming from the front, probably the engine. It's nothing awful - but as it's going in for a service is there some things I should ask them to check? thx marc

Well this was only 7 years ago... But yes, this was our previous V70 and as I would have known now it was a wheel bearing. The odd thing though is that the sound appeared to come from the near side but it was the offside bearing that was replaced. This shows that you shouldn't assume the source of a sound is where you first think... M.

I did some sound recordings on cell phone on LHS and RHS while driving and went for the loudest on a Nissan Note recently - that worked ok.
