Anyone networked their PCs?

I've built a second box for running softsynths and soft samplers (not keen on the cost and power implications of the RTAS stuff to come) and would like to network it with my PTLE PC. Both are running 98SE. Assuming the network cards don't share an IRQ with the DIGI or the other boxs soundcard (Luna II)will i encounter any obvious problems? I'm planning to set up separate profiles on each PC i.e. with and without the network cards enabled on each.

not only do i have my networking going on, but i recieve my dsl connection through my networking and i am online all the time while recording all on the same machine, i have yet to encounter any problems network or XP related. i don't knock on wood, i beat it with an axe

Hi i network 2 PC's in different rooms, the first is running LE, the second is running Soundforge, fruityloops and a few other things. When i finish a mix on LE i just save it to the network drive, then open it up from the other PC the master it in soundforge. Also if i write a percussion loop in fruityloops i can then do the reverse and open it in LE. Its great and saves alot of time, and also means my main PC (Running LE) is a deditacted LE box. I have heard of people having problems running LE with a network card in the same comp, but it works fine for me. Also it means that when i am using LE, someone else can use the other PC for mastering. (I run my own small studio but occasionly hire a freelance if i have alot of work.)

Hello, I have my PC's linked together too. Along with following DIGI's advice about not using network cards in ProTools systems, I bought what is called a USB Network Cable. Basically, with the installation of some application specific software, my two computers are linked together via 1 15-foot USB cable from the USB ports. No cards in either CPU. This system is fast, reliable, and is in accordance to DIGI's specs. I simply load the PC-LYNC software into the Windows Startup, and when the computer is turned on, they are already linked and ready to go. Talk about cheap too. I think this setup cost me $25.

I've got two boxes in my studio on a 5-port switch and another PC in the office, all patched via a Linksys Router to cable modem. All at 100 full duplex. The LE box is XP, others are 2K. Works great. It certainly helps to keep the LE box clean.
