960 Air Con FLashing.???

MessageAuthor

Hi, ive just bought a 960 for my mother after her 760 gave up the ghost. The car is very good, but the Air Con switch is flashing constantly. What could cause this? does it just need regassing or is it a more complex thing? The manual says its a big problem if it flashes. I know this may sound like a funny question, but if i can fix it myself its not a major issue has anyone got any ideas? thanks

Hi My experience is that the control unit cannot tell if it is out of gas so the flashing is not likely to be that. I know that they flash if one of the air temperature sensors has failed. I think that there are two. One in the overhead light cluster (cabin temp) and one in the air box behind passenger's dashboard (incoming air temp). Start with the simpler things. If you don't have a spare sensor or cannot borrow one you could try temporarily replacing the sensor with a 10k ohm resistor (Maplins) to see if the light stops flashing. Mike

Hi, One of the first things to do would be to check for error codes in the system. Details on how to do that, and other AirCon tips are in the FAQ: .... Des. . . ;)
