won\'t launch on one user account, will on another

I'm now running Tiger (10.4.2) on my 1.67mhz powerbook, and tried to update my previously working PT 6.7. I updated PT to 6.9.2 (also tried 6.9.2cs2), but PT quits before it even makes it to the splash screen. I went through the list of things to trash (digisetup, prefs, etc.), but to no avail. Yet if I boot into another account, it works. So, suspecting my user account, I wen to to great pains to eliminate any possible issues (startup items, etc.), but I can't seem to get PT to launch no matter what. I also did the whole un-install - reinstall routine, repaired permissions, as well as many other things. I am a fairly knowledgeable user. Still the solution eludes. Ideas?

Hi Mark, Trash the Digidesign Databases folder on all mounted drives, empty the trash, restart and most likely PT will open. 9 times out if 10 the immediate crash is caused by the contents of this folder.

Nope, didn't work! I even tried removing ALL of the prefs (restarting of course). PT still refuses to launch. yet it will on a "guest" account. So I am somewhat sure that is it account related, but I am out of ideas. Isn't there some way to make this work?
