VSTi's over Reamote?

MessageAuthor

I have an ageing but fully useable backup computer that just gathers dust when I'm not backing up files to it. I'm thinking of possibly using it to offload my main machine a bit by running a few VSTi instances on it. So, can you run VSTi's over Reamote without massive latency or other issues? Most threads that I've found deals with using Reamote for processing like reverb, but reverb isn't taxing enough to make it worth the hassle IMO. Most importantly, does Reamote even do midi or just audio? Not a pressing need or anything, my quad core still handles everything I throw at it without problem. It would just be nice to know that I might have this option when planning for future projects.

I'm also interested in getting into this possibility. I've not admittedly not investigate Reamote properly at all...

. Or? At least there is no mention of instruments, only effects.

Reamote does do MIDI, It does everything a plugin can do ;) Some Instruments don't work, which is a pain (Probably it's most useful would be to run Kontakt with big templates, erm no doesnt work, stupid cockos), Justin mentioned (I don't want to say promise because the fanbois will all cry) some really interesting updates for Reamote, which never happened and Reamote has now been left to the 80 percenter "How good would this be if they actually bothered to finish it" category

I used to have a setup like this using FX Teleport, and it worked quite well. But when I finally upgraded my main computer and could be rid of it, it was a massive relief. Just too much hassle all round. (There's also the reliability and power consumption of the other computer to think about) Also, the old projects that are saved with remote instances are a pain to open.
